Jay-Z @ Glastonbury

The first shot was fired a while back when Noel Gallagher (of the rock band Oasis) offered up his opinion of Jay-Z being chosen as the headliner of this year's Glastonbury Festival in the UK.  Gallagher's argument was that there was no need to change the rock-driven format of the huge summer festival, seeming to also have a problem with the selection of Jay in particular.

Jay-Z bit his tongue while the controversy swirled, choosing to let the music speak for itself.  The only thing was that the music was Noel Gallagher's.  Jay took the stage at the famed music fest with an electric guitar strapped to his shoulder, nodding his head as his live band played Oasis's smash single, "Wonderwall".  Hova then proceeded to do the unexpected - He led the crowd through the first verse and chorus of the song, singing.  Yes, Jay-Z sang.

We've got the whole video below.  Props to Miss Info for the clips.

This Is A Little Scary...

If you're familiar with the "Terminator" saga, this may entertain you.  If you aren't, you just may be scared.  Either way, it's a little unsettling...

Wake-Up Call

"It seems Heaven-sent, we ain't ready to see a Black president." - Tupac Amaru Shakur, "Keep Ya Head Up"

From the Jena Six to Sean Bell, tensions are building between the Establishment and Black youth & their culture.  A rift has been intentionally created between young Blacks and their elders, leaving them isolated from exchanging experiences with the previous generation.  This situation finds the young having to push the "RESET" button on many approaches developed during the Civil Rights era and blaze their own trail due to the fact that establishmentary bias against them is becoming more and more blatant.  See evidence below.

Jay-Z - "A Billi"

It was only a matter of time, right?

Jay-Z jacks the daylights out of Lil Wayne's "A Milli" (feat. Cory Gunz).  Remember the back-and-forth jack moves between Hov and Joe Budden?  Maybe we'll get something like that with this one here.

Congrats, Mr. Obama

Well, it's done.

Barring any last--minute appeals, this leg of the presidential race is done.  Barack Obama has secured the delegates and, by default, the Democratic nomination.  Hillary Clinton now finds herself in the unenviable position of angling for a vice-presidential slot after what has been a fierce competition with some less-than-flattering things said on both sides.

This VP issue should be settled as soon as possible.  The Dems don't have a lot of time to prepare for the battle with John McCain, but this prolonged fight for the nomination may be of benefit - it's kept them out on the road, amongst the voting public, discussing the issues.  We'll see soon enough when these vice-presidential nominees are announced and the debates and attack ads and pundits and newspaper endorsements all start rolling in again.

Welcome to the playoffs.
